Sarah Hanks is an adjunct instructor, academic, and activist.  Past research has addressed prefigurative politics, social movements, critical media theory, and resistance in popular culture.  Her pedagogical approach focuses on the application of sociological concepts, use of media, and real world examples.  Activist work has included involvement with Support NY, a collective dedicated to healing the effects of sexual assault and abuse, For the Birds, a radical feminist collective and zine distro, and Food Not Bombs, a group that redistributes food that would otherwise go to waste.
